Public Journal 1 : Week of 02-02-2022
Wednesday, February 2 marks 4 weeks since the beginning of my blog. (it’s also a 2’s day, but watch out for 02-22-2022 cause that’s a 2’s day actually on a Tuesday)
It is also groundhog day and good grief, I really am not looking forward to 6 more weeks of winter.
Going to school in Iowa means the weather is already very strange and not fun to deal with. We already have had 2 weeks of below zero temperatures and as you can probably imagine, the “feels like” temperature is much lower.
I picked a school in the midwest because I have so much family near me and being a fairly family-oriented person, I really didn’t want to be too far away. A 6 hour drive between school and home is enough for me.
This spring semester is already turning into a very hectic one. I don’t know if any of you have been in this position but all of my teachers this semester have told me “this will be one of the hardest classes you ever take”, wonderful. Thanks.
Balancing school, social life, and the blog is enough to make me feel a little bit overwhelmed every day but reminding myself why I am doing all of this as well as what my goals are helps me push forward.

Did any of you make resolutions for 2022? I did. They aren’t the most exciting but I think if I can commit to them and hold onto them longer than a month, they might prove helpful.
This is what I am looking to do this year:
- Get better at balancing my time
- Be more active
- Hold myself accountable more often
- Become more independent
Oh and don’t worry, I’ll drag you all along on this too 😉
Part of the reason I want to hold on to these resolutions is because I watch so many people give up on their resolutions each year and I think we all should put a little more effort in to help ourselves become better people.
I get so sad hearing about all the hate and harshness in the news and I wish we had just a little more harmony in our small world.

I was “lucky” enough to start off this year by testing positive for COVID-19. The real lucky thing is that my symptoms weren’t that bad. My sisters and my mom also tested positive but somehow my dad didn’t, which I gotta say is really not fair.
It was fun watching my youngest sister Catherine, who had the worst symptoms of all of us, and yet her energy still kept her going through each day, nearly bouncing off the walls just wanting to play and go a little crazy.
She and my other sister Sarah, who is now starting her 2nd semester as a freshman in high school, have been struggling with all the changes in their schools due to the pandemic.
Both of them are very social people and love to be with their friends, however, they both didn’t have many friends in their classes at the start of the year and felt that wearing masks and staying 6 feet apart sort of limited their normal motivation to go up to new people and introduce themselves.
Sarah found other ways to meet new people through joining theater and through her dance classes, and Catherine loves meeting up with her friends to play in the snow outside.
I keep finding myself so impressed with how much they have matured these past two years.

There’s been a little bit of craziness in college this semester. Balancing social life with school, band, and the blog is starting to become a lot.
Don’t worry! I am not giving up on the blog. I am only a month into doing this and there is no way I am going to drop it that fast.
I fell behind last week with school and the roommates and I had our first bit of drama in college which, I have to say, I’m kinda impressed we made it this far with no drama.
So that’s part of the reason why there was no post last week. I am trying to figure out a good schedule for myself and writing posts.
I'd like to post one helpful tip post every week and then every once in a while, I might either exchange it with a “Public Journal” post or add a second post on top of the tips.
I know most people who come to my blog and are reading my posts are looking at the tips and don’t have much interest in what I have to say about the things going on in my life but for those of you who might, it’ll still be here. 🙂
So, one month in, and here we are, 2022 is off to an alright start, and there are a ton of things to look forward to this year and lots of posts.
See you next week 🙂
